All Day Breakfast.......

Mmmm Nice....

2 slices of toast, 2 eggs, 2 hash bowns, 2 sunny side up eggs.......£2.49.
Maybe could put this on the new menu......

Was going to read the story about the man who invented sellotape.......couldn't find the beginning though.

Better go 'cos the kids been eating their dinner for an hour now......

Adios

Keh-mon Achaan Noya Bandu?

Celebrations!!!

A warm welcome, balo aso nee & celebrations to our new follower.........
Welcome and enjoy and feel free to comment.
Don't y'all be shy
Don't just Think It....
Feel It....
Say It....
Express It.....

I usually celebrate with some food so here was my happy food. Bought it just before noon and the batter on the Chicken Fillet Burger was still fresh and crispy. You guys are so lucky that I remembered to take a picture of it. It usually doesn't last that long....although it took me ages to eat it. The bite on the picture was the biggest I could do. I split my lips doing so.

Not Quite a Karahi King Burger....

LBN or WN as you know him went shopping over the weekend. Something important......anyway all he could dribble about was a Karahi King Burger. A triple stack with salad and cheese and mayo and just loveliness. Just loveliness.......

Anyway after a year the new menu is nearing completion although the brief may change again. In fact it has.......so hang in there and we'll get it sorted by next year.
Having said that I keep coming up with new dishes......for example Tikka Mixed Grill. A luscious mix of Chicken Tikka, Haryali Chicken, Malai Chicken Tikka, Lamb Tikka and a new Spicy Tikka which is chicken tikka with an extra spicy marinade. All cooked fresh to order so maximum freshnesss and served with a fine cut salad with dhaniya, green chillis and drizzled in mustard oil. A Bengal salad. Also a side dish of spinach and potaoes......I'm hungry.

Anyway our new stuffed pepper style should be popular. Half roasted sweet red pepper stuffed with fresh bhuna lamb mince, vegetables or spicey mash. The mash is lovely and smooth with a red chilli flake kick.

As usual I'm falling asleep...

Outta Here........

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.......

Salmon Tikka

Went shopping the other day. There was a sale on at Debenhams. Upto 25% off. That's 25% off their allegedly already inflated prices which they kept high for the legal 2 weeks of the year so they can legally claim an authentic 25% off sale. So it's really not 25% off our usual prices but 25% of our 2 week high prices. I went in 'bout 3 weeks ago looking at a pair of jeans. 501s I think. £65 they were. Usually they are £50-55. Surpise surprise they were in the sale......

Tuesday was a busy night. No police or big bills like monday so it felt a lot busier. Had a couple of Spaniards come in. Jeans and body piercing complete. They seemed pleasant enough. Until some regular customers said they felt sick due to the smell coming from them. They dayn't leave a tip either.

Le Hand of a cheating Henry......

But he didn't do it delibrately though. Well that's alright then.....shame on you.

Tired now.
Need to catch up on sleep.

For once it's more windy outside than inside.....

All I Got Was A Kebab.....

Spiced Onions

Been trying for years to make spiced onions........Oh my life I may have cracked it. MC with TK then some M & a little C with S to finish. Onions chopped finely of course.

Last night we made Spiced Tilapia Fillets and Bengali Style Maas using Tilapia fillets. The fish is not the best but we decided on the sauce. Nice....

Was busy for a monday night.
>A policeman came in all dressed up.
>The waiting takeaway customers looked at us, looked at them and then looked at us again.
>I put my hands up while WA ran to the back and hid.
>He looked at me.
>I looked at him.
>He looked for a takeaway menu.
>We didn't have any (surprise surprise!)
>He asked what time we closed.
>I said 12 midnight.
>"Can I book a table for 5 at 10.30?" he asked.
>Releasing my clenched buttocks I said "Look forward to seeing you later."
>He left.
>The takeaway customers said "can we pay now?"

Half ten came and went......at 10 to 11 they came in. They ate. They enjoyed. They paid and then left a shulo phon tip from a shite phon bill! WA said fags on me then....I said of course. Once you lose a stone in weight and put some deodorant on. He laughed. I laughed. We left at 10 past 12. He still smelled.......

Had some weirdo customers in on saturday. They were upset their Manchurian Chicken was milder than a Koorma. Impossible. He says he goes to another restaurant and their JalFereze was medium. Curry strentgh is relative. My medium curry could be your madras curry. They finished it all off though.......bandor
Later that night on the same table we had a lady who loved the sound of her own voice. Asta fagol. "I should be dead" she kept saying. " I nearly died" she moaned. All she did was fall down a couple of steps.
That table is now officially the fagol sagol table.

Half Eaten Seekh Kebab Roll

They all went shopping on saturday. Something about a Christmas Day.........anyway I took the kids to football then had fish and chips on the way back. The owner of the chippy is really friendly and always uses fresh tongs for me when I go. He also fries his oink products separately from his fish and chips. Anyway family went shopping and I got a kebab back. Sorted. Very nice.

Peace Out

The plural of Fish is.....Fish.

Can You See the Fish or Fishes?

Well I changed the water in the tank and you can see Abdullah swimming quite happily on the right. He hasn't gone to his comfort place and is most definitley happier.

Can you see me in the tank? And the other little Zebra Danios (or mujahadeen) on the left? There's one doing a runner along the top of the tank as well....

My Dinner.......

It was a 'orible night weatherwise and it was thus quiet at work. Quite a few familiar faces.
WA was in a mood. He only had 2 sticks tonight and was upset over something. When he like that he's an absolute pain. His head has gone and he bear-disha mood all night. Numpty.

Meanwhile WS survived his birthday and says he has turned over a new leaf. Will wait and see......

Made myslef a keera mint murghee. It was nice and spicy with green chilli and chilli flakes.

Looks like no football for the wee man 2mrw morning. I can hear the rain outside. And the wind. So might get a lie in. Until the Beasts invade our room under 'can I go to the toilet?' pretence.....

They showing the England v Brazil friendly on ITV later. As it's a friendly Jimmy, Ash and Warney should get a kick. Although depends what mood the Samba boys are in.......looking forward to it. BTW can you imagine Wayne 'gunda gorilla' Rooney as potential Captain if Terry ain't fit. Gone are days when being captain for your country means being articulate, a motivator and have a certain dignified manner & self respect. Not grunt when you open your mouth and run about like a headless bull every time you get challenged hard. My life.

Eee deshor standard nai nee, asta noshta oi sar ghee. Ash-o-lay, noshta oi-a har-sey......

Can You Believe This.....?

Short post before I go to work. Had to mention the following as it's important.
Taliban=Junkies. USA=Hypocrites.
Okay we all know that war is never about the headlines. Hidden agendas are the name of the game.
Read this.......

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/nov/13/us-trucks-security-taliban

......things are never what they seem.

Had nachos for lunch with hummus, olive oil pitta bread and a salsa. Not quite curry but went down well.

Off to work in a bit. Weather 'orrible so let's see what happens.....will let you know as usual and IA will remember to take some food pictures that's if I don't eat it.......

Wicked

Still cool........

These Are Not Normal Baked Potatoes.......

Thursdays normally my day off but had to go into work 'cos WS is off celebrating his birthday...

Had a good lunch......homemade nachos with salsa and lovely melted cheese followed by baked tatties with tuna mayo sweetcorn filling. I felt a bit like an aloo after as well.

Kids' parents evening earlier. Let it be known that they have made us proud. Beast Z is doing exceptionally well and is getting additional teaching for her numeracy and is in the top stream for most other subjects if not all. Beast Y is doing just as well and his reading & writing is progressing very well. MA they are developing well and will cost me in rewards this week.....

Work was quiet. It was raining very heavily and we had a couple of leaks in the restaurant. Made myself a Keera ki Murghee. Made it the other day but tried it with some tomato puree to give colour and a slightly sour taste. The other nights' was better.....

I think one of my goldfish is getting old. It swims about then always goes back to the same place behind the artificial plant and next to the Greco/Roman columns(!) and just kisses one of the 'leaves.' It's had a good run and has been with us a couple of years. Although looking at it now it seems to be doing ok....

Tired now.......going to amend the menu yet again and then get some sleep.

Food Pictures

Chicken Wings

Nouvelle Mash

Homemade Spicy Nuts!!

Okay not CurryHouse food but the other half/quarter/three quarters, depending on which way you look at it, is at work tonight so made the beasts their dinner.

Made myself some spicy nuts........unsalted nut mix (brazil, hazel, almonds.....) coated in olive oil, garam masalla, chilli, cumin, paparika in the oven at 180degrees for 10-15 minutes. Then let it rest on tissue paper and added salt before serving. Think I will try mustard oil next time and add more chilli. Olive oil doesn't lend itself to spices as well as veg or mustard oil. You can experiment with other spices but chilli & paprika should be a constant. Gives bite and colour...

The chicken wings.........oh crap I've left 'em in the oven!!!!!!..........
.......................they're ok. A touch overdone on one side so need to be eaten straight away.
With fingers.
Messy.
Food tastes so much better when eaten with fingers.

WN & LSL said that I reminded them of Lenny Henry. I do take that as a compliment but he is rather large now but is still very very so handsome and so very extremely funny is so. Can't for the life of me think why I remind them of Lenny Henry.

I have subscribed to the BBC Audience/Tickets alert service. They let you know of upcoming BBC shows for which you can apply for tickets. It's normally a ballot for the popular shows but it's worth subscribing to. Top Gear has a 2 year wait! Question of Sport is by ballot and I've just applied for Celebrity Mastermind tickets......http://www.bbc.co.uk/tickets/ .....try it.

Gotta go.......the beasts need a shower.

Safe

Still cool eh.....

Bourgeois Trash..........

Hello........

At work tonight.

WSs 21st birthday 2mrw. We had a good chat today and as usual I did my you should know better talk. He has some warped views on forgiveness. I think he trying, whichever way he can, to make a change & do something but he keeps getting sucked back in.
The road is long,
with many a winding turn,
that leads us to who knows where.....

Had a good chat to a customer about Christmas and how he & his family were looking forward to it from a Christian point of view......we then chatted about Eid & Ramadhan from a family and religious view and how 'hard' it would be the next few summers. Then compared the benefits of fasting & Lent. Jihad can take many forms......

Made a lovely chicken dish but as usual only remembered to take a picture when I'd chucked it down. Sorry....
Curry chicken with a touch of mixed powder of haldi, dhaniya, jeera, paprika & garam masalla.
Firstly sweated down onions, methi, g&g and green chillis.
Then added some chopped tomato, half moon cut cucumber and added the spices.
The dish was given a tangy kick with mint and red Kashmiri chilli flakes.
Added a touch of gravy and water and a sprinkle of garam masala just before serving.
It was quite yum & I'm a bit miffed I did not take a picture. Next time. Promise....
As for a name.....it's not regional or a traditional authentic dish but a mish mash of chicken, mint, cucumber & garam masalla.
Murg Aza Baza or Ada Bada Murg or Ulta Falta ki Murgi.
Don't think there's a literal translation for mish mash.

Just been watching Gordon Ramsays' F Word on C4.
Two Indian restaurants competing to be Britains best local.
How I hate the arrogance of the Brummie Lasan twits. When the other team got 27/50 for their main course you could see the Lasan business partner & his wife/girlfriend/escort laughing their heads off in the background.
The Lasan group pride themselves in not serving trad Indian restaurant food, for eg chicken tikka masalla but like to cook proper Indian food. All the rest are bourgeois trash.
You cocky twats don't you realise that you have only got to your lofty perch, looking down on all the common restaurant people because of the blood, sweat & tears of those pioneers decades ago who have slowly spice-ified the British palate. If they hadn't maybe you would, terror of terrors, still be serving and cooking chicken tikka masalla and garnishing it with cream and almond slices. All the best you fluffy batty looking boys, but don't you dare knock the hard working majority.

Getting late now.......oh and don't forget kids to brush your teeth twice a day and "let's whoop Mr Tooth Decay"

Laters

So so cool.....

Monday 9 November 2009

11 points off Chelski....

So so so so sad 'bout the Spanish Waiters drawing against Small Heath tonight. They ain't beaten 'em in 7 games. How can they beat Manure yet lose to Small Heath and Fulham? Ngog should be banned a la Eduardo for his shocking dive......one win in nine....Sky 'big 4' News will be going frisky over this.

Why don't they bring cameras in? The ref will get instant respect as his decisions are backed by tech. I suppose every decision will be queried by players and that would have time implications but surely only captains should raise and the speed of feedback would be only limited on how quick the 4th or 5th official can pull up a replay. It only needs to be trialled in the Premier League to see how it goes. Just as 2 extra officials are used in the Europa League this year. Dodgy decisions, diving, hidden fouls etc annoy every one. The appeal system is limited and hasn't stopped the rot. But never mind gotta keep the bookies in business. It's one of the biggest growth areas and the game will always be open to corruption when money is involved.

Is sport, therefore a moral pastime or has it been hijkacked by the dollar. The two cannot go hand in hand and we are all guilty of supporting an immoral pastime just as voting in X-factor....
(which I don't, although you can vote for free here......http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/free-x-factor-votes)
.....is wasteful and supports a system that is absolutely taking the mike let alone our pounds from us, the hard working people who only want to watch ITV free of charge. Don't mind the adverts though as they are often entertaining like this one......

btw how did they get those lambs to nod their heads together?

Slightly off track.....football has been taken over by the pound. We know that money corrupts and causes so much inequality on every scale so is it right to be involved in any capacity with football. Be it going to games, buying the kit, watching it on TV? If we really love the game should we not be supporting our local team......?

Anyway too serious but this isn't

9 million watched Strictly.
Over 11 milion watched the main X Factor show on saturday.
14.4 million people watched the X-Factor results show to get conned by this........

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/xfactor/news/a185845/cowell-consulted-show-boss-over-vote.html

.......disgraceful. Everyone knows it's a TV show and characters are the lifeblood of a talent. It ensures longevity and maintains car crash interest. But when things like this 'come out' and is so obvious it really is a slap in the face. Looking forward to it next week........and I am going to apply next year. Need a silly partner to though.....

Our chef just phoned. He's a big Liverpoo, supporter........he called me before I called him. Monday night usually quiet but as I'm not there, they've been relatively busy.

Football, Hong Kong Phooey, VW Passat, Morals, Popular TV all linked seemlessly........spread the news.
Come on get involved (you can't change anything.)
Leave a comment (it will be ignored.)
Tell your friends (have you got any?)
Enjoy life (remember the hereafter)
Protest loudly (& it will NOT be heard)
Request change quietly (it WILL make a difference somewhere)
Make a Personal sacrifice (if we all did the same just think what we can achieve........you've all heard the urban myth 'bout what would happen if all the people in China jumped & down at the same time?)

Peace Out........

(how cool am I?...............)

Its Back, Its Back Its Really Really Bad, sorry Back.........

Yipee-ai-yay the WWW is back on at home. Requested a MAC number as well which should be with me in 5 working days.......need a new ISP within 30 days now. Was going to go with Orange as they did free broadband with any talkplan, but they've now withdrawn that offer. Gundain.......

Funny week this week. WS is taking a wednesday and thursday off so I'm off tonight. Weird. Anyway LIFE is on BBC later and is a fantastic Attenborough documentary. The little man loves it.....

New menu should be up & running soon as BBB has sourced some salmon fillets. We mentioned to an old customer we are starting a new menu soon......"why" he squeaked "you've had this one for 20 years!" I told him it was longer actually and didn't mention that his looks hadn't improved over time. He's been coming to us for over 20 years......we've got quite a few customers like that.

Got a link, surprise surprise, of the pillow scene from Planes, Trains & Automobiles....

.....it's a cracking film.

Anyway gotta go 'cos this blog is so so boring.......

Happy now?

If not........meet my friend.

He's hard.

Very hard.......actually so was Nikolai 'The Beast from the East' Valuev.....going to do a press up now.

PS I wouldn't normally say this but "COME ON YOU BLUES>>>>>>KEEP RIGHT ON!!!"

Sunday 8 November 2009

BOOM BOOM BOOM.......

My brekkie/lunch....spicy chicken omelette with cheese on top....jubbly.

John Carew, Carew...
He's bigger than me & you.....
He scores all the goals....
John Carew, Carew....

What a result. OK we strong at home, unbeaten since the Wigan opener but with the Villa you never know. With a few ex-Villans, Bolton came with hope but they got spanked for 5!!

Last night once again we expected to be quiet with fireworks etc. It started quiet. Very quiet. Then the boom boom startebd & the customers came as well. Also our guests are more Strictly than X & that finishes earlier. Mr Volvo came in again. He a bluenose so when he bit into chilli from his JalFerezi I did sniggle....

WN is progressing well. Suddenly he can pick up plates & look cool doing it, that is, not looking as if he going to drop everything! Also he was asking some questions 'bout football & casually said that Stourbridge lost against Walsall. Fascinating.

Funny customer......"would you like any coffee or desserts?" The bloke looks at me "yes please" I wait......& wait........& wait 4 him to say what he would like. He says diddly. His woman friend realises & asks for the bill. Still cant work it out. I think he had a few pennies missing or a sauce short of a biryani.

Worst moment was when BBB & WN started talking all geeky 'bout computers, memory, SATA & processors......I didn't have a scooby so I just smiled, nodded & asked what make the laptop was then ran off looking for some food.

Gotto go kids around...

Saturday 7 November 2009

"those aren't pillows!!"

Well internet at home gone awol so this post is mobile driven....just came home from work. Quiet night. Weather, fireworks, recession....goodness knows. Last couple of nights been quite busy though. No rhyme or reason to it.

Oooh Planes, Trains & Automobiles is on.....an all time classic with the brilliant, superb, fantasticly triffic Steve Martin & John Candy.
The best gag...."those aren't pillows!!" says Martin whilst Candy takes his hands off Martins' buttocks whilst they share a bed.

Villa at home to Bolton 2mrw....shud be an easy 3 pointer but with our reputation for choking against the smaller teams I'm a worried fan. There lies the beauty & frustration of football. Can't stream the match now 'cos 'net is down :(

No YouTube today....sorry.

Anyway gotta go.

Thursday 5 November 2009

Metatags......What the......!

Just Trying..........

Powercut last night. Right in the middle of the Scousers match & Spooks.........be back in a little bit to do a full post....

Wednesday 4 November 2009

Chee Chee Cheebah Cheetah......

Okay Usain 'Lightening' Bolt has adopted a new cheetah as a reminder to the dangers of extinction and to also highlight the plight of Kenya National Wildlife Reserve Park. He is paying thousands of dollars to adopt a cheetah and thousands yearly to help look after it........I'm sure he does donate thousands to humanitarian causes as well........

No reason for this picture........................just funny.

Can't decide if it's been photoshopped though......

..............this one must've been.....

Now the usual YouTube clip.......

.......not too much pressure on the little man!!

Tuesday 3 November 2009

Goodness Gracious Me................

Break out the popadoms..............................We have a new follower!!!!

Wel come, welcome, wellcome, well come & finally well-com................

Last night was steady.........served a family table of four. They've been in a few times but only realised our ceiling is made from the roofs of guards vans. I did feel bad as the tablecloth was a tad dirty.....it was so busy thursday-saturday that we ran out of cloths. They were happy and enjoyed a kulfi and gulabjam for dessert. We told 'em to have it hot with ice cream bit they wanted it plain.....criminal.
WA was saying that Mr Volvo came in with his family sunday night. We were getting worried about them as they live close to the new restaurant & thought they had abandoned us!! But he came back......"food was okay, service was not. Lot better here" he said of the new place. Fair enough. Nice to hear. Never leaves a tip though. As long as they keep saying hello we cool..........

It's nice working with WA....every 20 minutes or so he says "I like working with you bhaisab." We have a laugh, mainly at his expense, then I feel bad and remind him that he's good with customers and has a good manner with them.........

Okay usually I would put a YouTube video of memories but this week has a social slant on it.......

........down with Supermarkets, power to the Independents..........the revolution will not be televised

okay okay I yielded to the power of the 'Tube.

Peace Out......

Monday 2 November 2009

Hey Jam-ess......

Okay those were nights.....

.......a table for 6 and thousand popadoms!

Back to work later. Saturday was busy.
Very surprising as it was Strictly X-Factor and Halloween.

Halloween started off as a Celtic festival with some roots as a
Christian celebration,
but now is a purely secular/capitalist/money making festival....

WA came back to work saturday night. He was a little spaced out,
which was understandable.
I think he wanted to get away from all the chaos at home.
It was good to see him and he vows to stay on the straight and narrow.
Hope he does as he has a good heart that a lot of people take advantage of.

Loads of new customers on saturday as well as our regulars.
Thursday through Saturday were so busy we ran out of curry chicken.
A first for our chef! Having said that we sold a lot of trad curries like bhuna,
rogan josh and so forth which all use normal chicken rather than tikka.

Will try to finalise the new menu this week.......
.........should be up & running in a year or so......

One of my favourite adverts.....

Somethings happened to the lines on this post........
